Big News! Chemsta Leads in Protein Deep Processing, Ranks Top 3 in China for Oilseed Equipment R&D and Production

In four spacious production workshops, machines rumble and operate orderly as workers busily carry out their tasks. The oil and protein processing equipment manufactured for countries like Russia and Serbia, along with the mobile sludge hydrothermal carbonization integrated equipment for MCC Ecology & Environment, are now in the crucial stages of debugging, spraying, or packaging. Soon, they will be shipped overseas in containers. On May 10, reporters from the Grain and Oil Market News witnessed this bustling scene at Chemsta in Jining High-tech Zone, Shandong Province.
Sun Lianqiang, Deputy General Manager of Chemsta, revealed that Chemsta’s leading products, namely complete sets of equipment for vegetable oil extraction and refining, have reached the international leading level. Chemsta’s production capacity for oilseed equipment ranks among the top three in China. The market share of its technology and equipment for ethanol-based concentrated protein preparation tops the domestic industry. Moreover, Chemsta pioneered the world’s largest single – line food – grade and feed – grade ethanol-based concentrated protein preparation technology and equipment, which are globally leading.
143 Authorized Patents, Internationally Leading Products
Looking through Chemsta’s “entrepreneurial history” and “book of honors”, we can see the company’s remarkable origin. Established in 2007, Chemsta is a limited liability company. It was jointly funded by the Jining Machinery Design and Research Institute (holding the controlling stake) and natural persons. Today, Chemsta stands as a national high – tech enterprise, integrating R&D, design, production, manufacturing, and engineering construction services. Chemsta has earned numerous prestigious titles, including National High – tech Enterprise, National Contract – honoring and Credit – worthy Enterprise, and National Specialized, Sophisticated, Special and New “Little Giant” Enterprise. In Shandong Province, it has been recognized as a Gazelle Enterprise, a Specialized, Sophisticated, Special and New Small and Medium-sized Enterprise, and a Single Champion Enterprise in the Manufacturing Industry. Additionally, it has been designated by the Department of Science and Technology of Shandong Province, the Development and Reform Commission of Shandong Province, and the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province as five provincial – level R&D and innovation platforms. These platforms cover areas such as the Engineering Research Center for Deep Processing Technology and Equipment of Vegetable Oils and Proteins, the Enterprise Technology Center, the One-Enterprise-One-Technology R&D Center, and the Industrial Design Center.
According to available information, Chemsta has a wide – ranging business scope. It specializes in the R&D, production, manufacturing, and engineering installation of multiple types of equipment. This includes complete sets of equipment for the extraction and refining of vegetable oils, low – temperature soybean meal, and plant proteins (such as soybean protein concentrate, soy protein isolate, and cottonseed protein). It also deals with complete sets of equipment for the extraction and separation of natural products, the harmless treatment of livestock and poultry, large – scale drying, and the design and manufacturing of chemical pressure vessels (in accordance with both the national standard GB and the American standard ASME). Moreover, Chemsta is involved in industrial plant design, electrical automation control systems, and general mechanical equipment.
“A workman must first sharpen his tools if he is to do his work well,” said Lin Fengyan, the chief engineer of Chemsta. In recent years, Chemsta has achieved significant success in production line construction. It has successively built 5 food-grade concentrated protein production lines and 6 feed-grade concentrated protein production lines. Thanks to its outstanding innovation ability, remarkable R&D achievements, and digital application capabilities, Chemsta has been selected for several important provincial – level programs. It is among the first batch of Digital Economy Innovation Platforms in Shandong Province, the first batch of Advanced Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Shandong Province, and a Supplier of Intelligent Manufacturing Scenarios and System Solutions at the Provincial Level in Shandong. The project of “Innovative Design and Manufacturing of the Integrated Energy-saving System for Ethanol-method Concentrated Protein Drying and Evaporation” stands out. It has won the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the Shandong Machinery Industry Association. In 2024, it was recognized as a “Shandong Manufacturing” brand. This achievement has effectively driven the transformation and upgrading of Shandong’s manufacturing industry towards high-end, intelligent, and green development. Chemsta’s complete set of technology and equipment for this project has been included in the list of production enterprises and products of the first (set) of technical equipment in Shandong Province in 2024.
Zhao Shuchao, a senior account manager in the marketing department of Chemsta, introduced the company’s collaborative efforts. Chemsta has established a close partnership with Henan University of Technology. In 2019, they jointly launched a school-enterprise industry-university-research cooperation project and set up an industry-university-research practical teaching base. In 2020 and 2024, they collaborated on a project to introduce urgently needed and scarce talents in key supported regions of Shandong Province. Through these collaborations, the projects have won several awards. These include 1 First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association, 1 Third Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the China Machinery Industry Federation, and 1 First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress of the Shandong Machinery Industry. Chemsta has a remarkable track record in research and development. It has successively undertaken and completed the development of 32 technologies and products related to the deep processing of vegetable oils and proteins, winning over 110 scientific and technological awards above the municipal level. Chemsta has also been active in intellectual property, applying for 176 patents, with 143 authorized, including 20 invention patents. Additionally, it has obtained 13 software copyrights. Notably, the scientific research achievements of 8 technologies for the deep processing of vegetable oils and proteins have reached the international leading level.
Products Exported to Over 10 Countries, Independent Technologies Recognized
“True gold fears no fire. Our produced grain, oil and protein production lines not only occupy a large market share in China, but are also exported to many countries and regions including Russia, India, Egypt, Serbia, Canada, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Indonesia. ” said Sun Lianqiang. In his view, Chemsta’s new products have not only achieved new breakthroughs in high-end equipment, but also significantly improved in application performance. Thus, new products and technologies for the deep processing of vegetable oils and proteins with independent intellectual property rights have been developed, winning the recognition of relevant domestic and foreign experts and enterprises.
Wang Ruiyuan, an 88-year-old veteran known as the “grandmaster” in China’s oilseed industry, believes that Chemsta is a renowned representative in the oilseed machinery manufacturing industry. As early as June 2017, the project of Fujian Changde Protein Technology Co., Ltd., undertaken by Chemsta, a 1,500-ton-per-day soybean deep processing production line and an ethanol-method soybean protein concentrate production line with an annual output of 40,000 tons, was put into operation. At that time, it was the largest and most comprehensive modern production line for feed-grade ethanol-method soybean protein concentrate in China. Zhang Huaguo, Chairman of the company, said that Chemsta has rich experience in this field and excellent after-sales service. From the management to the employees, they all give the impression of being honest and practical.
“Our harmonious first cooperation led to a second partnership. To meet the rapidly growing market demand for high-quality soybean protein products, in July 2020, we jointly built the second production line – a soybean protein concentrate production line with an annual output of 80,000 tons. At that time, it was the largest single-line ethanol-method concentrated protein production line in the world in terms of tonnage,” Zhang Huaguo said.
Wang Ruiyuan, then the Chief Expert of the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association and Honorary President of the Oilseed Branch, said that after the development of this production line of Fujian Changde, the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association attached great importance to it. Experts unanimously believed that it was a production line developed with completely independent intellectual property rights. The final evaluation was that its overall technical level was at the world-leading level.
It is worth mentioning that the project of an annual output of 10,000 tons of soy protein isolate for the Amur Agricultural Consortium in Russia, undertaken by Chemsta, is the first soy protein isolate production line project in Russia. This project is listed as a key national project in Russia and is of great significance for promoting the economic development of Russia’s Far East region. When the project was completed and put into operation, President Putin personally attended the commissioning ceremony.
