The 34th Academic Annual Conference and Product Expo of the Oils and Fats Branch of the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association Convenes in Jining, Shandong

The 34th Academic Annual Conference and Product Expo of the Oils and Fats Branch of the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association was grandly held in Jining, Shandong Province, from November 15–16, 2023. Hosted by the Oils and Fats Branch of the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association, the event was organized by CHEMSTA Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Themed “Carrying Forward Success, Striving for High-Quality Development, and Rebuilding Glory in Oils and Fats,” the conference aimed to unite industry experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives to explore cutting-edge trends in oils and fats technology and drive high-quality industrial growth.
Distinguished Attendees
The conference was honored by the presence of Professor Lu Jingbo, President of the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association; Professor Zhang Guifeng, former President; Professor Wang Ruiyuan, former Director of the Oils and Fats Branch; Academician Jin Zhengyu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Jiangnan University; Professor Dong Shijie, President of Wuhan Polytechnic University; Sun Lianqiang, General Manager of CHEMSTA Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd.; and Professor He Dongping, Director of the Oils and Fats Branch of the Chinese Cereals and Oils Association and Professor at Wuhan Polytechnic University. Over 600 attendees, including leaders, experts, researchers, and industry representatives from across the sector, participated.
Charting a New Blueprint for the Oils and Fats Industry
The event featured four components: an opening ceremony, invited academic reports, technical forums, and a product exhibition. Professor Wang Xingguo of Jiangnan University and Executive Vice President of the Oils and Fats Branch, presided over the opening ceremony and invited reports.
Professor He Dongping, Director of the Oils and Fats Branch, delivered a welcome address, emphasizing that this year’s conference coincided with the 40th anniversary of the branch’s establishment. He highlighted the branch’s unwavering commitment to advancing China’s oils and fats industry over four decades and outlined its future strategy: leveraging “high-level technological self-reliance” to strengthen industrial chains, foster innovation, and build a modern, secure, and controllable grain and oil industry system to support China’s national rejuvenation.
Professor Lu Jingbo stressed that China’s self-sufficiency rate in edible oils is currently only ~35%. Facing global supply-demand imbalances, he urged coordinated efforts to “expand sources and conserve resources,” proposing four priorities: enhancing industrial resilience, nurturing young talent, optimizing academic exchanges, and deepening international collaboration to boost global competitiveness.
Professor Dong Shijie noted Wuhan Polytechnic University’s legacy as a pioneer in grain industry education. He proposed establishing a “Global Oils and Fats Community,” advancing green processing and smart manufacturing, and cultivating interdisciplinary talents with international perspectives.
Mr. Zhang Dong highlighted Jining’s strategic advantages as a hub for the “North-South Grain Transportation Corridor” and its commitment to green, intelligent, and high-end grain processing upgrades. He pledged to leverage the conference to create a world-class business environment and establish Jining as a leader in oils and fats innovation.
